350 Newton 350N Material used for the fencing protective gear is rated for a force equivalent of 350 Newton. It protects against a max. 3,5 joul (Newton meter) force of a broken blade. Special testing proved that the material tested can withstand the previously mentioned force. Measurements made by an independent lab in Europe. An average of several tests in being used. Also, the material is subjected to washing to mimic normal use. The more a 350 N rated material is being washed and the stronger the detergent is, the faster the resistance will deteriorate.
