 | Lame
Metallic vest used in foil and saber fencing to "mark" and separate the valid target from invalid target areas. Origin from French: fabric interwoven with metallic threads. A lame was a "thin piece or flake of metal". On our website it is called Electric Jacket. In foil it covers the torso, in saber waist up including the arms. There are two kinds, normal - practice and "washable". A washable lame is made out of stainless steel (INOX) and it can be submerged into a water and woolite solution to remove oxidation build up caused by long exposure to sweat. |
