Maraging
Maraging steels are hardened to martensite and then tempered at around 500 degree Celsius ( almost 1000 degree Fahrenheit ). This process has been termed ageing, and since the initial structure is martensite, the steels have been called maraging
The steel, is strengthened by a process of martensitic transformation, followed by age or precipitation hardening. Maraging steels work well where ultra-high strength is required, along with good dimensional stability.
FIE accepted fencing blades ( foil and epee. Not saber.) are made of maraging steel. They bare a stamp, that shows the FIE approval. There is also a production date stamped into the steel. These high quality steels blades don't rust, last in average longer and stay straight longer compared to regular steel blades which over time develop a "memory". After a hard bending at a particular part of the blade, the non FIE, non maraging blades tent to keep bending easier at those places.
