Dry
Referred to in fencing as non electric. Fencing bouts are commonly scored today with electric scoring systems. A dry weapon for example is a practice weapon that is made without a wire in the blade and without a connector for the body cord. There are only a few "dry" tournaments being held, which require the use of a director and four side judges, the majority are electric. For epee, an electric weapon is needed and a body cord. For foil, a weapon, a body cord and a lame. In saber the list is more extensive: weapon, body cord, lame, electric glove or cuff, electric mask, mask to jacket cord. Dry equipment is great for practice, lessons, paired drills and the occasional dry tournament.
