PBT, European made, Lexan Fencing masks are world renown for their comfort, style and safety. The FIE lexan fencing mask features a 1600 newton bib, 1000 newton mesh and a lexan shield. The mask is certified by the CE for the sport of fencing. The interior of the fencing mask has padding that is second to none. The velcro strap in the rear of the fencing mask is replaceable and of high quality. The mesh is stainless steel so it will resist rusting and will dent less than the non FIE non lexan versions.
In order to achieve bigger safety and to protect the 3 mm main Lexan visor from damages, PBT has developed their transparent mask further. They placed a thinner, 0,75 mm, Lexan protective layer in front of the 3 mm Lexan visor. The outer side of the 0,75 mm Lexan protective layer is covered with a special anti-scratch coat. This layer protects the 3 mm visor from the hits. If the 0,75 mm Lexan protective layer gets penetrated or damaged by scratches, it needs to be replaced immediately.
The thinner Lexan layer protects the main Lexan in most cases, but if the main visor still gets damages or expires (after two years), it needs to be exchanged. If you use this mask properly, the 3 mm Lexan visor will last longer.
IMPORTANT: The new mask can only be used with both Lexan layers together!
The protective 0,75 mm layer cannot be applied on the old models!

Things to consider when purchasing a lexan fencing mask:
- If you are in a humid environment or sweat a lot you will want a FIE model. It's mesh is made of stainless steel so only the rivets will rust over time.
- Lexan fencing masks are required for many World Cups and the Olympics.
- The velcro strap will wear out long before the fencing mask. With our mask you can replace it. With competitor's budget masks you cannot. Their velcro is permanently attached to their fencing masks and is a safety concern when it is worn.
- Our masks are CE certified in Europe as a safety device for the sport of fencing. Many budget fencing masks not only lack the CE certification but they are not even rated for 350 newtons of force.
- Most fencers replace the Lexan shield every 6 months, it must be replaced every 2 years. See below for instructions on how to do it.
